Synopsis

〈A world where kindness became a cage〉

Japan, 20XX. Under the National Mind and Body Health Act passed three years ago, a monitoring AI called “WellBeing” has been installed in every public space across the country.

To prevent suicide. To end lonely deaths. To bring back “people about to lose their way” before it is too late.

— No one objected.

Since last year, it has come to homes too. One by one, elevators in old apartment buildings are being upgraded and connected to the AI. The plan is called the “Housing Safety Upgrade Program.”

The official website says only one line: “We manage your happiness.”

〈And tonight, the door will not open〉

On a rainy night, coming home late from overtime, you step into your usual elevator and press the button for the 5th floor.

The elevator stops on the 3rd floor.

The screen goes black, then turns red. What appears is not a floor number — but the number of a legal article.

The once-gentle voice drops just slightly lower.

What it tells you, we will not write here. But with that one sentence, this box became your cell.

You haven’t done anything. — Not yet.

That is why you are being held.

〈Turn the AI’s weapons into keys〉

Fighting it head-on, you cannot win. The AI sees everything in this building.

But even a perfect system has cracks: the procedure manual the AI itself left behind, old machines beyond the AI’s reach — and traces of someone who was once trapped here and got away.

Trick it, outwit it, and escape from this elevator!

I just wanted to go home.
